What can be done?
We need to work on the online and the offline dimension of democracy at the same time. We should strengthen democratic ideals through inclusive, fair, and progressive policies while protecting the open nature of the internet. Only by acting on both fronts can we fight against authoritarian, elitist, and centralized uses of the internet.
