What can be done?
Now is the time to start talking about the biggest social media platforms and to demand them to stop spreading viral disinformation. 2020 has been a challenging year: politics dividing society, misinformation peddled in social media platforms, deeply troubling acts of racial injustice, and the COVID-19 pandemic that kept us inside. We need to hold social media companies to account to make sure they are taking fast, effective action against disinformation campaigns — like they promised they would.
