What can be done?
We need to fundamentally reframe how we control the internet’s infrastructure and how it is regulated by governments and private companies. Colonization and commercialization of private data need to stop, and strong legislation avoiding monopoly and ensuring transparency from social media platforms has to be put in place.
A collective of over 50 artists used online platforms to raise money for relief activities among daily wage laborers, as well as ethnic and religious minorities across Pakistan during the pandemic.
