Tonusree Basu leads the work on Thematic Policy and partnerships at Open Government Partnership (OGP). She has worked on several projects focused on policy outcomes, including grassroots movements for transparency in India and a global policy collaborative on impact investing.
What can be done?
We need to make access to the internet a public good, available to all sections of the population. The control of the internet by authoritarian governments or private companies, without accountability to the ultimate users, deprives several sections of the population — like socio-economically disadvantaged groups, women, and people living with disabilities — of access to the internet.
