What can be done?
We need a transnational information infrastructure that is safe and open. It is critical for people across national boundaries to work together in the face of the next global-scale disaster, because the influence and reach of censorship and propaganda are not confined by national borders.
Open source software site GitHub became a censor-free and safe space to collect and share people’s stories during the early stages of COVID-19 in China.
